At an impasse

I'm at a toss up if I should buy a second GTX 970, or just go ahead and spend the extra money for a 1080. All the benchmarks i keep seeing show the 1080 as the better card but not by much. I am trying to figure out if dealing with sli setup is worth saving some money instead of getting the 1080 considering i already have one 970.
