if you dont care about whats on your computer, and you have your windows install key,

1. find your windows version, will probably be a sticker on the pc or wherever your windows media was (cd box)
2. find windows .iso file for that exact windows version (eg windows 10 professional 64 bit)

3. use rufus to copy the ISO to a usb drive

4. boot the iso

5.click custom install, delete every partiton to leave unallocated space.

6. click install

NOTE only do this if you have a working windows 10 key or you signed into windows 10 with a microsoft account. By reinstalling windows you will be REMOVING your proof that you purchased windows 10. Without a key windows 10 will likely be unusable after 30 days.

I can get into the bios but when i try to get into Windows all i get is a black screen, this happend after leaving my pc for about 15mins when i came back i get a black screen and i restart the same thing happens. I get a signal as the blue led is a solid colour on my monitor but its just black. Temps are fine and i have taken out the power cable pressed the power button reconnected and still nothing. Thanks for any help.

3. can you boot anything else, eg windows installer, ubuntu, windows recovery cd

Saw the spinning windows loading symbol, as soon as it launches to the login screen it goes black, no hdd light, and the installer is that the usb i got when i ordered windows 10 from microsoft? And if so should i just boot from that to see if it works?

Yeah that would be fine. so your saying the windows logo doesnt fully finish. Where a normal finish (for win7) is 4 spinning dots that then join and make the windows logo and then shine for a few seconds

At around the half way point of the spinning circles is when the drivers load. This is also when an overclock takes place, CPU and GPU.

You can normally tell when that is, you get a small flash, or in this case when the screen goes black.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Do you have a GPU to test? I've got this problem some time ago where my dedicated GPU wasn't working correctly, took it off and it worked fine.

Depends on what GPU your CPU has, my Intel HD 4000 is officialy supported, my old notebook with a Intel HD 3000 is not officialy supported but works fine.

Thats what i have just done and it didnt work? :( it just said windows cannot reset this pc

no a "windows 10 Reset" is entirely different to booting an install media and overwriting the windows install.

I cant remember which way but one of the two "reset and refreash" keeps programs, the other keeps all files. either way both KEEP some files. a windows 10 freash install completely wipes all data

Do you think it's worth me waiting for my gpu to get back from the RMA to see if it works with that?
