Hi guys

So i've currently got a GTX 970 running on a 1080p monitor and i want to make the jump up to 1440p, would it be worth getting the GTX 1070 now and the monitor abit later? Or the other way around? I'm mainly asking this because the GTX 1080ti was announced today and i'm not sure whether it's release would drop the price of the 1070 enough to warrant waiting for it? Also if anyone has any previous use of a 1070 at 1440p could you tell me how well it performed?

Thanks!

i would get a 1440p Gsync monitor first...then a GTX 1070 or better.

But i think you should look into a new CPU as well because in many games the FX-8350 will limit your performance, even at 1440p.

I have an overclocked 980ti which perform similar to a 1070 and it play games perfectly on ultra 80FPS+

| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

Ahh ok, sounds like a good idea :) I've got a different system to the one in my signature, I haven't updated it yet, i've got a 6700k now.

ahh that's much better...970 can do 2560x1440 at 60-80FPS on medium/high in many games...i used a GTX 780 oc 1220mhz with my 1440p monitor and it was still a good gaming experience just don't expect to run anything on maximum settings but usually for the difference that it makes visually anyways... a new monitor will be a nicer upgrade my monitor was the single best upgrade experience ever and the purchase of a 980ti was just the cherry on top.

You should also consider a Freesync monitor and waiting for AMD VEga GPU's to upgrade to AMD Radeon.
