I'm in the market for buying a new graphics card, to upgrade my old Gigabyte 6850, but anyways I was thinking between the gtx 660 ti or the ati 7870. I'm still not quite sure on which to buy amd or nvidia. Like I know that amd has really fixed many problems with their drivers this year, but I also think that nvidia is really ahead of the game in terms of performance, drivers, and technology.

I would spend more and get a GTX 780. They just dropped the price to $499.

Or, a 770/280X for $300.

lol If the 770 goes to like $250 or something along those lines I'll get it. What I'm probably going to end up doing is waiting till like december or something. Where just maybe nvidia begins to send out their new cards and stuff. Which would make these cards to a lower price.

OCing isn't brand dependent, you're taking a chance on the Silicon Lottery. As for quietness, I believe the general consensus is that the DCii is best.

Some brands are voltage locked though, so that has an impact on OCing.

Gigabyte is pretty cool for silence, but from what I'm being told it's voltage locked, so not a good deal for OCing. DCii is awesome, EVGA too with the ACX cooler.

The price for the 760 would have to drop as well, which it didn't, so I doubt it will go that low.

Don't bother getting a 660 Ti, the GTX 760 is faster and cheaper.

660 Ti is better but there are better alternative at that price point.

Whichever has with a dual cooler.

lol I might not have that much money to spend.

What's your budget?

The 770 won't go to $250 anytime soon. If you're buying in december, ask later.

If your budget is $250, get a 7950.

Don't bother getting a 660 Ti, the GTX 760 is faster and cheaper.

The 7950 is even more so faster and cheaper than the 660 Ti or 760.
