I'm doing a Xeon build and the processor is a E5 1650 (v1) and has a TDP of 130W I really want the Pure Rock because of its stunning looks but it's only rated for 150W and I'm afraid that an overclock is going to push past that.

The alternatives are the Dark Rock 2, Dark Rock 3 or the Shadow Rock 2 as these are the ones that are in my price range (though cheapest would be best). Even though the Shadow Rock 2 has the same top plate design as the Pure Rock, I think the Pure looks better with it.

The motherboard that I bought is a P9X79 Deluxe and the RAM is Corsair Vengence 8GB sticks (the high profile ones but was planning on putting them on outer slots until low profile could be bought).

Input is appreciated as I've never owned a processor with such a high TDP before so I'm trying to get this situated so I only need to order the parts once (money is also very tight and purchases are made every couple of weeks btw).

And please don't suggest a 212 EVO as I refuse to touch that overrated piece of crap.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! The 212 Evo performs a bit better than the Pure Rock.

The Pure Rock will be fine but you may need more cooling depending on how high of an oc you want.

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?

Why only BeQuiet! coolers?

Why are you getting a xeon. They can't be OCed easily, just get a 6800k. Cheaper, and you can OC it.

ALso the max tdp of a cooler is BS, coolers are measured is C/W, so without a max temp it means nothing.

The tdp is more than it really needs.

The e5-1650 v1 is an older gen cpu and is likely used from eBay, craigslist, friend, etc. A 6800k would be considerably more expensive.

I chose be quiet mostly for aesthetics. I know that it is a good brand with good coolers. Noctua would probably perform better but god, WHY BROWN?!

I was trying to stay around the $30 US mark if possible but can go up as high as $75.

Shopping in Pennsylvania and mostly looking at Amazon/Newegg (no micro-centers nearby).

I have a dark rock 3. It looks great but it's a pain in the ass to install and honestly isn't noticeably better than the 212 evo I had before.

I'd really look at noctua coolers. I know they don't look the best but they are the best in every other way.

Edit: what about the cryorig h7?

212 Evo is crap and can't cool any CPU on the market. I had one on my AMD FX9590 and it regularly hit over 100c with it's minor 6.0 Ghz overclock.

Noctua is garbage as well. I've noticed in many of my tests that the brown color they chose on their fans conducts around 15% more heat than it disperses compared to other colors. What you need to get is a Corsair H100i water cooler. That baby will cool anything you throw at it

The Dark Rock Pro 4 is about $75 on amazon right now. That and the Noctua Nh-d15 are the only coolers that will give noticeable improvements over something like the Hyper 212 evo, Darkrock 3 or H7.

If you want budget aircooling, buy the 212 evo. The price increase of the others are not really worth it.

How are you considering the coolers mentioned in the OP with just $30?

If you're willing to spend a bit more, the SR Slim and Kotetsu get you a good bit farther than the 212 Evo for not much more.

You mean the DRP3? It isn't that much better than the DR3.

There are plenty of similar performing coolers to the DRP3 including the NH-D14, PH-TC14PE, Fuma, Tisis, and so on.
