I have the Gigabyte Z170X Gaming-5... but it doesn't have on-board wifi and it's like a $150 mobo.

"A picture is starting to form here... I wonder if it's accurate? Some pieces don't quite seem to fit. Or maybe I just don't like the way it looks."

you won't find a "cheap" Z170 board compared to how cheap you can get a b150 for example.

Cheapest Z170 board (so you can overclock) is $89.99 on pcpartpicker.

A lot of cheap iTX motherboards have built in wifi.

If you're looking for budget. I just bought an Asus Z170-e board. It's lacking on USB ports (4 rear), but it overclocks nicely and once I added a usb hub, I'm loving it for the price.
