Intended Build Use

I intend to program quite a bit, using software such as Visual Studio, IntelliJ Idea, Android Studio and Atom. I also have quite a lot of RAM-eating Chrome extensions which I use on a day-to-day basis. As a student, I do rely quite a bit on the Office suite, and as someone who 3D prints stuff for school projects and is a competitor in the F1inSchools project, I often use Autodesk Inventor and slicing software, although I don't need maximum performance. I also plan to run some virtual machines for the purpose of running Linux and scambaiting. :)))

I do plan to have a dual monitor setup, although I don't plan to game on both monitors.

I want to be able to run CS:GO on max at 1080p at 60+ fps (no point going over as my monitor is only 60Hz), while recording on Shadowplay, something I'm sure the 1050Ti should be able to handle. I may purchase Overwatch later. I also want to be able to run Flight Simulator X on max.

Purchasing and budget

I already have received the CPU and GPU from Amazon, and my uncle shipped me the SSD for free as well as a VLK for Windows 10, so I've got those covered. I'm getting my case (and maybe some LED lighting) from Mwave in Australia, and the remainder of my parts from MSY. My budget for the parts I don't yet have is $800.

@theelectricfire7 Overall, it looks like a really solid build. Do you plan on connecting to the Internet through WiFi or ethernet? If you plan on having a WiFi connection, you'll require either a PCI-E WiFi card or a USB WiFI adapter. :)

OP doesn't require a powerful GPU since he'll be using the system mainly for school work and CPU-intensive tasks. Also, he wants to save as much as possible on expenditure. By the way, hi neighbour! :)

EDIT: seems a bit overpriced to just have a 1050ti tho, but if u need the 500 gb ssd and case it fine, even if u downgrade the ssd

He doesn't need a more expensive RX 470, as the GTX 1050 Ti would suffice his mild graphics games (mainly CS:GO) and he'll be using his PC mainly for CPU intensive tasks.

true, but seems sorta underpriced for a 1500 dollar build, but it is fine if he just doing csgo,.

That's because that GTX 1050 Ti is the Windforce OC version from Gigabyte and has an extra 6-pin power connector which gives a greater headroom for overclocking. :)

i was saying the build in general, i understood the oc part :) like if i imagine a 1500 dollar build i think of an i7 6700k, 240gb ssd, 1 tb hard drive, 16 gb ram, a gtx 1060-1070, (or rx 480, dont get triggered)

@theelectricfire7 I'd suggest you get the ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4 Motherboard as it has a total of 10 VRMs around the CPU whereas the ASUS Z170-K only has 7. More VRMs = More stable power delivery = More stable overclocking. The ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 also comes with 3 more USB 3.0 Type-A ports. The Fatal1ty board also has 2 SATA III ports more than the Z170-K. :)

@Freezanator I want a neutral colored motherboard, and overclocking isn't my priority - I don't plan to do so for a year. Also, I forgot to include the WLAN card in the part list, grabbing the ASUS PCE-AC88U as there's a rebate going on down here.

@aries757 This is a AUD1250 build, though (excluding OS and SSD). Downgrading the SSD isn't an option for me as I received it for free from my uncle.

@Mi26 As I already have the GPU and CPU, I can't change them, and the RX 470 is slightly more expensive.

How does the CPU cooler look? Should the one intake and outtake fan be sufficient?

Thanks guys =D

The Hyper T4 is on the budget side so you shouldn't be expecting phenomenal performance especially once you start OCing in a year, but currently, it will suffice. :)

Should I bump up to a 212x or 212 evo or stick with it? It's an extra ten dollars, but if it future-proofs me, wondeful.

Neither. Get the CRYORIG M9i instead. Way better performance for a lower cost. :)

And what are the differences between the 212x and evo?

The 212X 's fan is opaque plastic while the 212 Evo's is a translucent type. The 212X also has tiny cuts into the metal fins when you look from the top and they help in heat dissipation. :)

M9i doesn't seem to be available at the two stores I'm buying from and seems hard to find in Australia. I'll probably go with the 212X or stick with the T4.
