I am currently rolling with this rig, and am looking at upgrading to a I7-4790k for the holidays. Although I will

not be able to upgrade Mobo/RAM and was wondering if it would be worth it over my i5-4460

What are you using this PC for? it will all depend on that.

I mainly play CSGO, but I play Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and GTA V. And if possible I might want to stream some Counter Strike but am unsure if that is reasonable with a 970

That'd be fine with a 970. Wouldn't go 4790k though, since you're only rocking a B85 board. Just get a 1231v3

An upgrade is an upgrade so you'll see faster boot times and on CPU demanding games you will see an increase in performance. In reality all you need is an i5 to play games but if you have the money then why not. But at the same time if it isn't something you need then put the money to somewhere else. Also as stated before you are running a B85 board, it wouldn't be an ideal situation.

This ^ Get either the 1231v3 or 4790 non K if you can find it, no reasons to pay more for the unlocked one if you cant overclock anyway.

CPU upgrades don't speed up boot times.

In your opinion which would be better? The Xeon or the 4790?

The K version of that i7 does come with a clock speed boost even without overclocking if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, but as with the 4590/4690k the base increase does not show an actual difference in gaming
