Hi guys, well, here's the problem, yesterday my cousin accidentally spilled coke on top of my laptop, it got on part of the keyboard and on the trackpad, i quickly ran for something to clean it, the keyboard even thought it got the worst part, i managed to clean it i know for a fact the motherboard wasn't getting coke from there becuased it sealled beneath and i checked every border, the only problem is that the spacebar now feels kind of "off" and "spongy", like if it got sticky beneath it.

The problem is the trackpad it had coke on half of it, by the size of the separation between it and the rest of the laptop I don't know if any fluid could have gotten inside.

By the way after i cleaned it I took away the battery and left it to dry i little bit because I had to go, when I came back my little brother was playing games on it (I usually don't set passwords), he said he had been playing for almost and hour, wich made me angry but also surprised to see it hadn't fried all up.

My worry is with the trackpad, do you think I should take it somewhere so they clean it (i can't do it myslef it has some rough screws on the back that i can't just unscrew) or should I leave it like that after seen that it still works?

Also, i don't think the warranty covers spill damage, or does it?

Here's an example of my laptop.

Run it through some isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Hopefully the coke is just gummed up near the toggles.

can't that damage the surface? i always hear to first test it on a small non cosmetic part to see how it affects the material before applying it everywhere.

You should test it, but as long as it doesn't dissolve the membrane it should be okay.

I would take it to a specialist to get it cleaned. They can use a solution to clear the residue left behind by coke. They can do it on a motherboard level. I don't know how much your laptop cost but I wouldn't take the risk.

I had an account called Joegeddon active since April 20th 2015
