Got a new setup done but not sure if my old GPU will be a bottle neck...Please advice if I should use it Or use the on-board until i get a decent GPU?

New components:

  • MSI M5 motherboard
  • Intel i5 6500, 3200GHZ
  • G.Skill RipJaws 2x8gb(16gb)
  • Cooler master SMPS 600watts

Old components:

  • Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1gb DDR5

Please advice

you mean if its 1gb gpu use it?

That's what I said, yep. if you aren't sure which to use, download MSI afterburner or Fraps and look at your average FPS while ingame with or without the graphics card, whichever has higher frames, use.

Quick Question: Is there a way to use the onboard one in tandem with the external one?

No, only if you have an AMD APU.
