Mediacentre PC

Hello guys,

Today I came with the Idea to build something like a mediacentre PC from my old desktop office PC.

Included parts:

Motherboard: MSI H61MA-E35

Processor: Intel Core i3 2100

Cooler: Stock

Graphics: On Board

Storage: 1 TB Seagate

- Blue Ray Drive

- Windows 7

Is it possible to do something like this?

I know that I need a graphicscard, which one do you suggest? (~150€ = 158,45USD = 208,91CAD)

Do I need some other things? Is another cpu cooler needed?

Have a nice day!

If it's a media PC you don't need a dedicated graphics card, the iGPU is enough. You may want to pick up an aftermarket CPU cooler so it can run quieter. A Hyper 212 EVO is good enough, it allows you to run the fan at a lower RPM and maintain the same temperatures.

Sure, it should work just fine. You only need a dedicated graphics card if you want to watch 4k (specifically h265) content.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

To get native h.265 decoding you'll need at least a gtx 950 from nvidia or an rx 460 from AMD, whichever's cheaper.

a rx 460 which is USD $100

a GTX1050

or  a GTX1050 ti.

I have no experience with this, but i think a rx460 should do it. otherwise you could use either of the other GPUs i recommended
