4K Downscaling

Please advise:

 

I currently have a 1080p monitor and am looking to upgrade to 4K. Here are my specs:

 

i7 6700k

gtx 1070 founders

16gb ddr4 ram

1tb Samsung 850 evo ssd 

 

I have been told that I do not have the raw horsepower to play some games at 4K 60hz at ultra setting. How would the games look if I down scaled to qhd?

 

This will be a 27 inch monitor.

Your much better at running at 4k medium or low than with a scaled res. Id just turn down the settings.

 

Also just try it.

on a 1080 i can barely pull 60 fps at ultra . this is at 2100mhz core so a 1070 has no chance of doing it medium or low yes but not ultra .
