I just saw some guy in the gamers nexus comment section talking about how his 470 pulled too much power from his motherboard and he had to underclock it or it stuttered his system, had a few questions.

A. I thought if your GPU pulled too much power from your board that your system just powered off, not stuttered?

B. Is it even true? I have the Gigabyte H110M-A and I was looking to pick up the XFX GTR 480 8GB and I don't want issues, I of course will be using my power connector (no idea if he did)

C. Is there a limit to any cheaper motherboard on what card it can support? I assumed no, I always thought the majority of power was pulled from the PSU and the 6/8 pin cable, I thought GPUs were only allowed to pull 75 watts from motherboards.

They fixed that power draw issue.

He's claiming it's happening right now, he said he has a 470 red devil and he had it massively overclocked and it caused him to have stuttering and stuff. I'm thinking its an unstable OC, a power draw issue would just cause the system to shut down.

Thats the issue. His OC was causing it to pull too much power.

Right, well he said he had to " underclock " it... I think what he meant was that he had to go back to stock.... anyway I'm not worried about my setup because the XFX GTR doesn't pull much power anyway, at stock Jay reported below 100 watts
