Are there cheap wireless storage access?

I wanted something(probably a router with such function?)  that can access a hard disk either using a desktop or phone to access the files, so i can just watch video or such instead of transferring around.

You can setup a file share on your desktop for free very easily and share any drive.

Yes it would. You can setup wake to lan to wake it from sleep.

 

Does your router have a usb port.

 

If you don't have that, just buy one of these https://www.amazon.com/Synology-DiskStation-Diskless-Private-DS115J/dp/B00MO6ZV52 and put a drive in it.

I intend to buy a new router for that matter, coz now i have a router that support only up to G , like wtf how did i live with it.

The file sharing on routers sucks, id just buy a nas like the one abov.e

I think you could do it with a Raspberry Pi. Then you can have it on all the time without using much energy
