Performance VS Features Dilemma

AndyCapets

Hey guys,

Ok I know this might be a question that has been answered a lot before, but I'm still wondering, since it's kinda, "delicate" as I can say.

Ok so, I need a new GPU, had a SLI of Gainward GTX 770 Phantom 2gb, but they both failed and now I'm getting my money back next week and I want to simply go with one card now since I don't want to risk another 700€ on GPUs.

I plan on buying the MSI GTX 770 Lightning 2GB card, simply because it will fit my color scheme in my build, but of course, it's not the only reason, I do alot of video editing, practically all the time, and as a power user of Adobe programms (CUDA=better I guess), I thought the 770 would be the best option. But then I thought, but wait, I still play now and then, I still need some power to play BF3/4, CS:GO, Grid 2, Crysis 3, etc on MAX on a 1600x1280 monitor, and I thought that this card was plenty enough, even better than the Gainward that I had, but then, suddenly, it came out of nowhere, the beast, the Sapphire R9 280X Toxic 3GB card.

I thought that this one was THE card, but then, I remembered that it's a AMD, so no CUDA, no Shadowplay, no everything better in Adobe programms and all the Nvidia advantages, but a hell of a beast with games, sometimes better than the Lightning.

So wich one do I choose ? Is the AMD one good with Adobe programms ? Is it better to sacrifice features over more power ?

I never used an AMD card before so I am a bit scared since the drivers looks silly and I don't want to return my card once more, I've had enough of returning things that don't work in my system.

Thanks in advance guys!

What Adobe programs do you use?  Some of them can do GPU acceleration on AMD cards too, not just NVIDIA.

Mostly Premier Pro, it's running all the time, but also Photoshop and rarely After Effects. Do GPU acceleration work like CUDA, or how is it ?

Pardon me, I wanted to say that I can only spend 400€ max on a GPU, the rest of the money will go for watercooling next year.

CS6?

CUDA is NVIDIA's fancy name for GPU acceleration.

CC!

Oh, ok...

Oh, ok...

if CC, buy AMD card for the better compute performance and better price. CC has OpenCL acceleration that supports AMD cards pretty well
