I7 920 Overclock for gaming with GTX 1070. Worth it? What's the simplest way?

I7 920 Overclock for gaming with GTX 1070. Worth it? What's the simplest way to do this?

I never overclocked a cpu, but i have a corsair h80i so i guess i can do it safely?

Airflow is good too, i have a coolermaster case.

I don't know if there's an influence but my motherboard is a Asus P6T.

I'm running with 16gb ram.

So what would be the simplest way to do this and being very safe?

I really really can't get that cpu dead for some reason. If there's more than 5% chance it will fail within a short time let me know and i'll just forget about doing this.

I'm mainly asking because i upgraded from gtx 770 to gtx 1070 and it seems i don't have a lot more FPS in GTAV...

Thanks

I'm more well acquainted with previous amd than I am Intel, but this would be a good read.

judging by this

There is still significant bottleneck @4ghz (like 20%-30% less gpu usage) when in the city.

I'm guessing your CPU is pretty old, and overclocking will ware it down more. But you can always give it a shot.

You just have to play with your settings. Maybe people have guides on it. Especially reviews on your cpu will be really good help and they go into major detail; more than anything I could ever give detail on

1366 is not simple to overclock.  You need the raise the base speed to around 200mhz. 20*200 was always a good place to start on 1366 cpus.  Also cpus are literally £5, it's the motherboard you should be worried about.

Maybe start with 180*20 at 1.3v and see how that goes,  you will have to watch the memory speed and the qpi speed.

You don't look very hard.  I he 4c8t Xeons cost nothing.

The 1366 motherboards are expensive so if that dies its much harder and more expensive to replace.

$50 or more for an i7-920 but a i7-960 is $100
