So this is my current build:

Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 4 GHz (currently running @ stock clock)
GPU: ASUS Strix Rx 470 OC 4GB
RAM: Kingston HyperX 4 x 4GB 1866 MHz
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750W
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 500GB
CPU-cooler: Noctua NH-D15

As I am playing on a 1920 x 1080 screen, insane GPU performance isn't the goal here, nor is extreme overclocking or even high load performance.
I want to be able to play AAA titles at at least high quality with 60 fps without running into problems regarding either temperature or too much noise.
I am therefore switching out the cooling on the Rx 470 (almost 40 dB) to an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme IV (about 20 dB) since I know the GPU cooler tends to make a lot of noise.
Other than that, I would gladly receive recommendations for HDD storage units with about 1-2 TB and not too pricy (up to about $150).

I am also planning on a second build, with the sole purpose of my sister needing her own computer to play The Sims 4 on.
I will be taking the build above with me when I move and she really loves her Sims game so I want to give her a decent station to play her game on.
I would for this need an entire build (all components including case) and I'd love some explanations to why those specific parts were chosen.

I would hope for as much help as possible so that I have the time to buy and mount all the parts in time for Christmas.

Thanks in advance,

BiBR

so you already have this rig? budget on you and your sister's rig?

To clarify: the components listed are those that I am using right now. Some parts of the rig such as the CPU is about 2 years old. The reason for the NH-D15 is to reduce temps of the CPU to reasonable levels since I know that AMD tends to 1. get hot hot hot and 2. fall in performance if hot hot hot.

The PSU was originally purchased in case of SLI/XF but it hasn't been relevant for me since then.

The budget for the new build would have to be reasonable in price, as stated it's not at all for high performance gaming or any such thing, it's for a 14-years old girl to play the sims on. I figured a $500-600 build would be more than enough, unless she wants to play it in 4k (observe joke)

Yeah I'm sure, if you go to the website https://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/accelero-xtreme-iv.html and then scroll down some to the topic "compatability" the Rx 470 is listed. I guess they're promoting the 480 and GTX 1080/70/60 since people buying cards for that price are more likely to purchase an aftermarket cooler

for your current build, i'd recommend upgrading to an i5 6400/6500 and ddr3 skylake motherboard with 4 slots to reuse your ram. os/monitor/peripherals needed for your sister's rig?

I will most likely wait for the next gen of CPU from AMD/Intel before I upgrade my CPU/mobo since it's not a critical issue at the moment and the 8350 has been performing just fine so far.

For my sisters rig, I have a decent 1920 x 1080 60 Hz screen from ASUS that I can spare as well as mice/keyboard/headset. Regarding OS I have another Windows 10 code from when I accidentally purchased a 3 computer license (the description was too long to read)

That looks rather nice for such a slim budget, and the fact that it's a mini case is a big plus. However I believe that the construction of the case might be an issue, I'm not saying that I'll spend several days on cable management and making it look extremely neat, but the layout of the case restricts a decent cable management and I'm not too sure about the placement of the PSU either. Otherwise that list looks good to me, I'll run it by companies selling in Sweden and see where the price lands
