Hey guys :)

I am building a new computer and I have researched some components. I was wondering if someone could give me a second opinion if I have missed out of anything, or alterations you would make.

I do play games, but I also use 3D modelling programs and video editing.

CPU: i7 6700K

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2x8GB

CPU Cooling: Be quiet! Pure rock CPU Cooler

Drive: 3TB HGST DeskstarNAS and a Samsung 250GB drive (To install Windows 10 Pro and Linux on the Samsung)

Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard

Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D or  Thermaltake View 27 ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: Coder Master Vanguard 80+ Gold 650W PSU

Graphics Card: GTX 1060

If you need more information, let me know :)

You dont need all that graphics power for gaming, but for video editing and 3D rendering you DO need more processor.

Yes I will be using a i7 as I will be doing 3D modelling and video editing.

So on the motherboard that is honestly a lot of wasted money. You can get a good board that supports your editing purposes for the $130-$200 dollar range. If your going to be doing more editing, buy more ram, as 3D modeling is one of the applications that actually benefit from more ram. With the savings on the Motherboard you could upgrade to a 1070 which give you better gaming and modeling experiences.

Why a XEON? He is going to be doing gaming and 3D modeling and Video Editing. A 6 Core i7 5820K would be a better more inexpensive option.

the 2 extra cores will help with his video editing, and its still a good enough cpu for gaming.

100%, but what I am saying is for nearly $250 extra is he going to be doing the kind of 3D Modeling that would justify 2 extra cores, or would 6 cores be more then enough for what he plans on doing? Don't just assume btw.
