Help with Asus ROG Maximus VIII HERO motherboard

So I was planning on buying the Asus ROG Maximus VIII HERO motherboard and running an air cooler and 6 fans. I've read reviews on the board and I've also read the specifications on thier website but I can't help but be confused on how many fans headers there are. Some say 7 while others say 6. Does anyone know how many there really are? Thanks in advance for your help

There are 6 fan headers. The seventh is for Water Pump

Thanks. One last question. Can I technically use the cpu optional header for a normal case fan?

Yes but, cpu_fan and cpu_opt fan are controlled together in bios. 

You can not control the cpu_opt fan separetely.

You can use as a solution y-splitter on one cha_fan
