Temperature Warning.

I'm running an  AMD A8-5600K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics and every time i run a game on my rig a pop-up keeps coming up in the bottom right of the screen stating that it's gotten to 60 degrees Celsius. I'd like to know what temperature is actually dangerous to the APU so i can set the warning to point out it's getting closer to that temperature than going to 60C.

80 to 90C is a good temperature range to set those warnings at.

Thanks. I know AMDs tend to run hot anyway which is why i was wondering how hot was too hot.

This APU is rated for  74°C max (that's what i found at least, seems legit) so 60 is well within safe zone.

AMD's don't run that much hotter than their equivalent Intel chips, and for both manufacturers, it's about 100 to 105C.

If you're worried you're gonna burn it, get a cooling pad, but I wouldn't bother.

At those temps CPU's lifetime will get reduced, even if it doesn't immediately break you know?

They'll actually cease to function if they maintain 100-105C for a few minutes (which is why they typically throttle at around 85-90C). The lifetimes of them start seeing reduction if they're kept at 80+ for too long.

Yeah so you shouldn't say that too hot is 100 to 105 since it's actually above 80 at best

Thanks everyone, i've set the warning to 80 so i can stop as soon as i see it. Though it's never gone higher than 61.

Seeing as Wsp is seeing 60C at gaming, it doesn't matter if they set the warning at 80.

The lifetimes of these CPUs are so long that they'll become unusable due to growing software requirements before running them constantly at 80C can reduce their span of viability. They outlast their usefulness as consumer CPUs.

65-70 is probably the critical zone to look for if that APU is actually rated at 74.
