It's better to just download the ISO and do a clean install, then just copy all the files from old to new.

Does that mean I can use the windows key from computer 1 to put onto computer 2 or would i need to get a whole new key?

License is just a rule on paper until we see what limits they have enforced via technology; try and let us know what happens. I tested Windows 7 on virtual machines that I got on academic license. My third activation within about 3 hours caused my key to get banned/black-listed.
