What kinda gpu power is needed for triple screen full res 4k gaming

Probably like four 1080's to be honest... if that were possible. Just my uneducated guess though.

I think Linus ran 2 way SLI Titans and ran 4 4K monitors at a point. So 2 way SLI Titan X(p)s

Good to know. Ever since I've gotten a new job in IT I haven't had as much time to keep up with all of the LTT videos. (Sorry Linus!) But I do get the opportunity to browse the forums during downtime.

I believe 2X 1080  should do it, but don't expect to have rise of the tomb raider maxed

well with maxwell (previous gtx titans) were not able to run 4k three monitors consistently. Now it is more possible but I think the official time when It'll be more common place is when Nvidia releases it's Volta line of gpus. So hopefully we'll get to see it become more usable. i wouldn't doubt titan pascals could do it. But I think volta would be a giant step up.  

keep in mind these are the previous titans.

Keep in mind, by the time Volta is released, games will be harder to run. This is why the world has been stuck at 1080p for such a long time.

keep in mind we've gotten to a point where we can run crysis 3 (be it an older title) at 4k 60fps high to very high settings with 2 1080's. If we use volta and run games like gta 5 and such it is very possible. There is a user known as "Thiryir"  with 4 titan pascals that is running games at 12k or 10k on his displays on max settings usually. So it's not that crazy.

Crysis three is a last gen game, as will gta V by the time Volta comes out.

Also let it be known that gta 5 has been maxed out so much a redux mod has been made to make the game look better (more graphic intensive). I understand the progressive detail in 1080p games but 4k is more possible now with 4k tvs and monitors being so much cheaper than ever before. Were moving into the 4k and 1440p age soon. I can run a few games at 4k with playable framerates with my rx 480 (alien isolation). So it is very possible that a triple monitor setup jerry rigged with the highest end of volta is possible.

With that kind of gpu Horsepower you could probably run 3 1440p 144hz, that might be better than 3 4k monitors

No GPU will handle 3x4k maxed out atm. Not even TitanXP SLI.

true. I'm a little surprised that the pascals didn't scale as well as I had hoped. Volta might be our lord and savior.
