I am between the choice of a xeon and a i7 skylake build, but both have their advantages.xeon has more core with ht, while i7 has better clock speed but only 4 cores ht. also I would like to upgrade in the future but with the xeon it would be impossible with the incompatibility with faster ram and etc.

Can someone help me out here?

No peripherals, monitor, Os, or hard drive. although a ssd would be nice.

600 U.S. DOLLARS

But the memory used on there would be slow and upgrading would mean a new system.

1333 MHz Ram will do you just fine. Also a xeon would last you a while i think. Multiple cores and if games DO decide to take amount of cores more seriously than single threaded programs, you will be fine

If you go onto eBay you could probably find the old x5000 Xeons for vewry cheap along with dual socket motherboards. You could get a dual 6 core system running with those, for a total of 24 threads.

I don't think that's a cpu
