First build advice

TurkeyClub

Hey guys, Im planning a build in a Micro ATX corsair air 240, and wanted to know what you guys thought of the hardware.  I already have a moniter, and I want the whole build under 850$.  Thanks for any recommendations!

go with the intel i5 6500 you dont need the unlocked version if your not doing any major 4k gaming or major editing. if you have a old pre build system take the windows from that. and one last thing i would go for the 1060 single fan its only $80 more and your getting a lot more out of it. if you want the small form factor case thats fine but if you go with a mid atx cases it would make everthing cheaper. i can help you with that if you want me to.

Mid atx definitely doesn't make it cheaper.

I'm going to assume you have a 1080p60hz panel since you didn't specify...

made some changes since your original spending was horribly imbalanced imo and included some low end parts. There are some rebates to be had on here, but you're also currently under 850 even with the cost of windows, so you should be fine whether or not you do your rebates.

we have close budge and I lean more on the cpu too, I would get a better power supply for the long term

here's mine https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YbrkgL

Yeah, I do a bit of music production and light mainstream gaming.  Get the CPU on jet.com with Triple15 for 189 on the 6600k, then put that on a z170 mobo so you can overclock.  I'm looking at the 550 cxm for those nice black cables, none of that ketchup mustard, but on a budget, not so sure.
