So today is Black Friday, and I'm building a PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4ncn8K

Am I forgetting anything? I'm afraid I'm going to start building and realize "Wait... the CPU doesn't come with thermal paste after all" or "I don't have enough fan headers for my three case fans".

Please scrutinize my build and save me from first-time builder stupidity / oversight. Thank you for your time!

The board only has two fan headers. One for CPU fan and one for chassis fan. Buying a couple of simple Y fan slitter cables will work.

Other than that, you should be fine.

I ordered this yesterday: http://a.co/4qQtkmj

Will that work?

Do I need to buy SATA 6Gb/s cables, or will they come with other parts? I know my motherboard comes with 3Gb/s cables, but I want my drives to live up to their full potential.

There's no difference between SATA 2 (3Gbps) and 3 (6Gbps) cables. The standards use the same cables, much like displayport and HDMI cables, they're pretty much all the same, with revisions being firmware updates.

So there's no difference in speed?

Not with the cables, no. It depends on the port revision. A "SATA 2" cable will work at 6Gbps on a SATA 3 port as there's no difference between SATA 2 and 3 cables (you just have SATA cables, there's technically no 2 or 3 SATA cables, they're all the same).

Also, they will come with your motherboard, so no need to buy new ones.

So basically the 3Gb/s or 6Gb/s label only indicates the speed they will use IF they run on that port? A 3Gb/s cable will run at 6Gb/s if plugged into a SATA 3 port?

Yes, and vice versa. The cables do not affect the speed, the ports on the board and drive do.
