I would like opinions. I am choosing between two laptops. The ASUS GL502VT-DS71 and the ASUS FX53VW-GH71(which is apparently a newegg exclusive). The price difference is staggering and don't know if the 970M and the extra GB of VRAM is enough to warrant the extra cost. Thoughts? Opinions? I want to stick with one of these two due to my positive experiences with ASUS and the small form factor. It is a little strange though that the second one (FX53VW) isn't on the ASUS website anywhere. Is that suspicious or warning to anyone else?

Thanks,

Dave

What do you plan to do with a 970m or a 960m? Which game do you plan to run. If I were to say it I would go for the ASUS one.

Which ASUS one, haha. Anyway I would be doing some graphic design and light editing. Ideal games would be like Fallout 4 level. I know that's a lot to run.

If you don't mind lowering the settings/quality the ASUS one will be fine. The one with 960m lol should be fine

Look if you get a laptop with a 970m and they advertise to run Overwatch on it then you or they are doing it wrong

If you sort through NewEgg with GTX 1060 there's quite a few. I'm not sure on size and stuff though, didn't bother looking that far into it.

I'll take a browse through it. But $1000 was kind of a hard limit... but if it's convincing enough...

I'd go with the 970M

That MSI is also another $400. So yes it is going to be more powerful. And I'm actually kind of leaning towards the 960M since it's so much cheaper.

Well, best thing to do is wait until Friday and see what goes on sale. You'll likely be able to grab a sick deal.

NCIX starts their sale tomorrow.

The 970M is 71% of the original price, so it's 29% off.

The 960M is also 71% of the original price.

You save more when you get the one with the 970M.

But I'm not sure if spending that extra $270 is worth the performance increase. I could get an M.2 SSD with the savings and then get a good performance boost in every department.

EDIT: $280 not $270

Trust me.  You PAY for the longevity that the 970M has over the 960M.

I know from experience.  I got the 1060 6GB in my Alienware, and now I wish I had gotten the 1070 because moar FPS's the bettuh.

A week/month/year from the time you get it, you'll be thinking 'damn.  I should've gotten the 970M.'
