Due to black friday being around the corner I've seen Overclockers.co.uk  doing some cheap deals such as a rx 470 for £160 but its only available in 4gb should i buy it or buy an msi one (my build is based on red and black) the card is from powercolur.

Also would it be worth to just upgrade to an rx 480 8gb (also from powercolour) for an extra £80 since both are on sale

I don't think it would be worth the £80 upgrade since the performance between the 480 and 470 is only around 10%, and the 480 in this case would be 50% more expensive.

Make it 15% since rx 480 has more stream processor than 470.

More stream processors doesn't always mean more performance, but in this case it's still 10% because it's only missing 256 stream processors. With some heavy overclocks, a 470 can match a stock 480.
