so what are the benefits of having a modular/semi modular psu ?

It means you can just add cables as you need them (providing the psu unit has enough plugs) so you dont have stray cables. and you can swap them for coloured ones to match your build.

Modular - all cables can be removed from the psu unit

Semi Modular - only some cables can be removed (normally the 24pin and cpu power cable are the ones you cant remove)
Non Modular - none of the cables can be removed

modular you can remove all cables from, semi modular you can remove everything but PCI-e, 24-pin and CPU power and regular PSUs you cant remove anything but the power cable from your wall

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler
