Well I am relatively new to both the overclocking community and LinusTechTips Forum. I just got a brand new custom rig and a i7 6850K. I managed to push the clock speed to 4.3 GHz but I have high hopes for this chip. How far should I push it and what voltage should I put into it? I am using the MasterLiquid Pro 240 cooler so heat is not too big of a problem. Any guides here would be really helpful. What would be a relatively healthy speed for my system? Should I enable CPU C-states so that idle clock speeds plummet?

Disable C-States. They are a power saving mechanism, unneded for OCs. I'd say a 4.7 or 4.8 would be a good place to stop. I wouldn't push voltages past 1.35V for that Skylake architecture,

I was under the impression that Intel CPU was harder to overclock? I don't know if it's a hardware thing or a locking thing though

Intel CPUs without a letter like i7 6700 with no "k" means that the internal multiplier is locked i think and to overclock that is a real pain
