Posted November 21, 2016 Okay, this sound very stupid to most of yalls, but I just bought my AT4050 microphone, waiting for it to be delivered. I should of thought this through. I use the Asus Xonar Essence Stx II and just need to know if I need a preamp. Is the microphone jack in the soundcard good enough so that my microphone delivers the best quality or do I need to spend some extra money on an amp? I might change mics. I found out that the microphone on the retailer I'm purchasing in is a few hundred dollars cheaper on storedj. I checked the official Australian site and it says 999 instead of 664 dollars. I'm fishy, so I might buy a different one of the official site (I think it's official anyway.) I'm deciding between the MK4 OR AT2050. Does any of these need preamp?
