Desk Pc Window Material Help

I'm designing a custom Pc desk with a micro atx system inside but I don't know what material to use for the window. The window needs to be durable, cheep, and easy to cut and drill. It will be on the surface of the desk and will be 10'' x 12 1/2''. If you want the 3d model of it I can provide it.

Acrylic would be easy to work with but however will scratch if you use it as a desk surface, ideally you would want a harder material like 1/4" glass for a table top surface.

maybe poly-carbonate harder than acrylic and still plastic if glass isnt on option
