I am debating whether on getting the HyperX Cloud or the HyperX Cloud II, the only reason I am thinking on getting the HyperX Cloud II is because it has an inbuilt DAC and 7.1 surround sound, if you own the HyperX Cloud II could you please tell my if the surround sound it worth it, also what is the unbuilt usb sound card like? Does it create a hissing noise like most other headsets I have owned?

Thanks, Regards Reece.

Owner of the HyperX Cloud 1 here, can't complain, for the virtual surround, most sound card can do this, so save money and the uncertainty of getting an hissing noise and get the first gen (plus they're cheaper)

Either or. The dongle which basically gives you those features is garbage, meaning there is a static when audio is playing.

The actual headset itself is awesome.

i have the cloud II its a great headset the dongle is nice to have sometimes but it has it draw backs if the audio you got is ok you sometimes end up with dead noise or static mainly when you have it at max volume . if you a decent MB or have a dac/amp combo just buy a 4 pin to dual 3 pin 3.5 splitter and your your MB sound . one note

ive had 2 of them fail not sure if its a defect from where there made or just i wear them out way too quick  . i lose one ear all volume dies one was left other was right . bending the cable on both ends at the dongle and making a pretzel with the wires fixes it temp till it total fails .  get what ever fits in your price range

Get the Cloud core or Cloud 1 if you need the accessories, the usb dongle virtual sound is garbage, if you really want the virtual sound, you can download it for free.

Razer surround is one of the example.
