Wifi for desktop?

So I have run into a problem. For my Gaming PC that I will put downstairs, where there aren't any accessible ethernet ports, I'm not sure as to how I'll connect to the internet! What is the best way that you would suggest to getting internet to my PC. Wifi is an option.

For a gaming rig:

If you can run a cable, if not use powerline and only then use wireless.

Agreed with rufee - powerline from the internet into your house to your pc. or better ----> into a router that acts as a wireless repeater. Then if you get more devices aka smartphone/netbook/laptop etc. they all got wifi.

I'd use wifi as a last resort as I've had problems in the past with rubber banding in games do to fluctuating latencies with wireless. However, I was also using the crowded 2.4ghz band so that could be a contributing factor.
