So I was an idiot and plugged a shorted usb cable into my usb hub. I got a surge protection warning and immediatly unplugged it. but now one of the usb 2.0 ports on my Asus 170 - A mother board isn't working. Is this just the price I pay for my stupidity or is there some sort of breaker I switched? Everything else that had peripherals attached seems to be working fine, but are their any other I/O I should check to make sure it is working properly?

The front panel USB ports should work... The USB 3.0 ports should work. The only thing that should have died is the bank of USB ports that you plugged into.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

If the only one that isn't working is the one you shorted out, consider that luck that you didn't take out anything else on the board and move on.

When in doubt, re-format.
