So I ordered an EVGA 1070 cause I have always loved EVGA and after I placed my order I find out these things are catching on freaking fire. Yeah there's probably a fix available and EVGA has good customer service but I don't want to mess with that garbage. Can someone break the cards down for me out there? I would appreciate it. I ordered from Newegg so I'm going to call them first thing they open in the morning and see if I can cancel my order and submit a new one....

Asus and msi seem to be the best ones. I had the evga version, cooling was ass. Returned it within a week for the strix.

A Black One. Because the blacker, the better.

I honestly feel it doesn't make much difference (exceptions like Binned ones or Hot ones) except for like 5 FPS. My decision is always dependent on either aesthetics or price as long as the card is from a reputed brand.

It doesn't really matter the difference between all the companies aren't noticeable, I would say it all comes down to own preference and what kind of colors you want in your build. I myself got the Asus Strix one and I have been satisfied with it so. Good luck with your graphics card purchase.

EVGA's cards have been more than disappointing this time round... as seen in the multiple reports of cards catching fire due to the inadequate cooling of the VRAM and VRM. And yet people keep suggesting them because that's the hive mind mentality.

I consider the ASUS STRIX and the MSI Gaming X to be the two best models. Both provide excellent cooling. Alternatively, you can stick with your initial purchase and play it safe by installing thermal pads (which can be acquired by requesting them from EVGA - http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/).
