In my area there are over 1 MILLION people.

Do you think that if I start a craigslist add for PC upgrades, I will get some hits?

maybe i mean it doesnt hurt to try.

any money you will earn will have to be black money. there are loads of people trying to do the same thing you are, computer repair shops are disappearing because its just not viable anymore, a new machine often is cheaper than upgrading or repairing the old one. and if you do upgrade it you will have to give warranty with it, pay taxes etc. doing it that way is probably not going to bennefit you at all and drive you into losses.

i agree with this unless he can manage offer dirt cheap prices on parts and services but that is near impossible to do since trying to hunt the old parts needed to upgrade the PCs is a nightmare and not to mention most of the time expensive since they dont make them anymore plus people still resell them for alot

your main target is going to be using mostly laptops or prebuild pc's, and probably don't even know what RAM is. if they do know what RAM is then they probably also know how to upgrade it themselves. if you have easy access to reliable SODIMMS than you could try, but again this will be black money. you could throw up an advertisement for it but i know my local craigslist is completely filled with advertisements of people upgrading computers for next to nothing because they just like to do it or don't have much social contacts. but i highly doubt that you will be able to start an actual business that makes money, you should do it if you love doing it. there's barely money there unless you do it black.

i mean he can make a buck or two off of it but but i would never try to run that as a business model since it will crash and burn quickly plus if he does succeed then he would also run into legal issues quick. So id say for him to do it as a seasonal thing like in the summer maybe then when school starts just end it.

I am not going to make a full business of it. I just need to make a quick buck.

With upgrades not a lot of people upgrade computers they just need something that works.

I would suggest learning about how to remove viruses and malware from computers, and offering to repair computers rather then upgrade them.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •

You could advertise something like "$50 virus scan and remove", and "$100 Windows + Applications reinstall", "$40 data backup", etc.

You'll have to look at what others are doing in your area (if also on Craigslist), and what you value your time as.

Upgrading components will likely be a very niche business. Doing PC Repairs will be better. Doing both would be best. You could also build full computers for people, and charge $50 or $75 per build, or simply buy all the parts off of Craigslist and sell them as a built system for a slight markup.

Whatever you do, DO NOT USE A CRACKED WINDOWS LICENSE. That's just opening yourself up to liability, if someone decides to take you to court (even Small Claims court) because the PC they bought from you had a cracked license.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

Is this a cracked license?
