^this though I find it unacceptable youd have to reload windows over a driver.

You can try:

Get DDU (Display Driver Uinstaller) 

After you've gotten DDU you can restart and boot up in Safe mode, they recommend that, and then remember to make sure you have the newest driver downloaded, after that just hit Clean (And reboot) so you can install your new driver and then you should be all good :)

I know it is unacceptable but sometimes I find it can take longer to find a fix vs reloading the OS.  Just my two cents....

before reinstalling windows, doing a ddu on your machine oftenly helps and does a pretty good job at keeping it stable
