Hello need help I use my external HDDs harddrive as temporary replacement on my laptop...then I create 2 partitions on it,

the first half is installed with OS then other is empty (Im using it as storage, external HDD storage)and the problem lies here, I copied a file from my laptop, then remove HDD and returned it as external HDD(you know I put it all back together again) plug it in to my another pc...when i plug it in the file i just copy is not recognize like its not here but it took some space....please can anyone explain to me what just happened??? but before i was able to do that and know it wont recognize.....recently i reformat the said HDD and return it as the way it should be (as EXTERNAL HDD) copied file to another...and BOOM working normal computer recognize the file i just copy and tried it again and again working normal....Is it telling to use only one function at a time like use it as laptop HDD or format it again to use it as external or Is there a way to use it both externally and internally at the same time? Give me a reply

NTFS, im using windows 10

Try plugging it in via sata, I remember seeing somewhere that Windows can't see beyond the first partition for USB drives.

Hi there :)

What is the drive's brand and model?

Just to make sure I understood correctly: You took an external drive apart, used the HDD as a OS drive on a laptop, partitioned it into two separate partitions, moved something to the second partition, put the HDD back in its enclosure and you can't locate the data on that second partition on another PC but after reformatting the drive everything works perfectly fine?

Did you have anything else on the second partition? Did you manage to access anything on that partition?

You should be able to read all partitions through the USB connection that created when the drive was connected internally via the SATA port.

Could you post a screenshot of Disk Management with that drive both when connected as a USB drive and when connected as a SATA drive?

Also, I would recommend running some diagnostic tests with a tool from the manufacturer to exclude possible issues with the drive.
