RAM with different capacity

Devin92

Hello guys, I have 3 DDR3 rams 2*4GB and 1*8GB. I would like to know if theres gonna be any trouble using them together? they are at the same frequency and latency.

Also, will duo channel be a problem? if so is there a way to disable it?

The motherboard should disable the dual channel ability by itself. I don't think that the speed difference will be enough to offset the fact that your ram has doubled. Go for it I don't think you will have any problems.

1. speeds match = ok
2. latency matches = ok
3. voltage matches ?

and if you use all three of these just know that it will run in single channel and not dual

Just try it. It should work fine. If it doesn't boot try to take your RAM speeds at the same level. If it doesn't boot then you should stick with the 2*4. It should work fine tho. Good luck :P
