I'm building a new setup (New everything, nothing old, but HDD) and I'd like to know if there are any ways of transferring my copy of windows 10 over to the new machine. I'm selling the old computer in parts so the key can be deactivated if need be. If I use the HDD that its currently installed on and just move the HDD over to the new PC is there a way to keep windows activated?

I bought an OEM key off of kinguin. And the whole setup is different as im going from AMD-CPU, Nvidia-GPU, To an Intel-CPU, AMD-GPU, so the motherboard would be switched, which i think would deactivate the key.

Use ProduKey to extract the product key from your current windows installation.

Only one way to find out!

Sorry, I didn't initially read the OP. It looks like you do alredy have the key, correct?

If so, moving the HDD over to a new machine would indeed deactivate the key, but you'll be able to reactivate it by reentering it.

OEM keys do not transfer, though if you manage to convince some microsoft rep. you can re use it. also according to microsoft getting a new motherboard warrants a new key code so yea. There are workarounds to it and you will have to google it because there are many, to which I will say it is a hit or miss in that respect.

so since i have an OEM key for my PC, and lets say my mobo decides to fry to hell, i would have to get a new mobo and a NEW key? \

lets say i did get a new mobo and key, now how about the harddrive? how do i do that part?

nothing really you will end up with a watermark and that is it really.

honestly look up how to transfer window's key to a new system, like I said there are many ways to go about it and many of those ways do not work.

Well I replaced my motherboard, and it prompted me to either get a new key, or deauthorize my old motherboard. I think that deauthorizing the old motherboard is something OP can do, and he wouldn't need to do anything else

ah depends on which key it was for. It is kinda weird when I went through this I had a 8.1 key but upgraded free to 10, though It would not allow me to deauthorize it at all. its really a hit or a miss with this kinda thing. personally I would just deal with the watermark, and get a key later.

EDIT: Also if you have bought the physical windows OS and not the OEM it will let you do that.
