Do I Need A Fan Controller?

Go to solution Solved by corrado33,

Your motherboard can support 3 fans. That's 1 CPU fan and 2 case fans.

My PC build that I'm doing soon will have the Cryorig C7 (I'm not overclocking so it's fine) and I'm buying two red LED case fans. Do I need a fan controller? I'm not exectly sure. If you need to see my motherboard, my build is here- https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TyFilms/saved/dQpgsY

If I do need a case fan, I'll change my case the the Spec 02. Honestly, I think they just look really cool and I want to make my friends think my PC is more high end then it really is xD

No but really, case fans look awesome. Imagine knowing nothing about PCs, and your friends has this- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992013 glowing out from their gaming build.

Considering you have the CPU fan (with an appropriate mobo header for it), 1 included case fan and 2 more AF120's, you won't have enough ports (only 2 case fan headers) and will need either a fan controller (for fan-specific control) or a fan splitter (lack of control but they all get power).

You can use the fan headers on your motherboard and control them with motherboard software or with speedfan. the fan headers can be 4-pin, but you can still control your fans if they're 3-pin

Oh, okay then. Thanks, I didn't know that :)

Alright, thanks. I was just looking for a reason to buy it.

I won't be using the fan that comes with the case, I'm giving it to my brother.
