Hey guys!

I am building PC for heavy use in 3D - Maya, Octane Render as well as Photoshop. My budget is around $2500 but bear in mind that I live in EU so prices are different.

Here is what I got:

- CPU - i7 6800K 3.4GHz - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Td98TW/intel-cpu-bx80671i76800k

- CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DMjG3C/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhu14s

- MOBO - Asus X99-A II - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/nW4NnQ/asus-motherboard-x99aii

- GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Gaming X - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XC648d/msi-video-card-gtx1080gamingx8g
            - Gigabyte GTX 680 2GB (from old PC) - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4178#ov

Note: GTX 1080- I will use it only for rendering in Octane (GPU rendering engine) so there will be no SLI between those cards. GTX 680 will be handling system graphics.

-  RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 2400 - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LJyxFT/crucial-ballistix-sport-lt-64gb-4-x-16gb-ddr4-2400-memory-bls4k16g4d240fse

-  PSU: Corsair 750W Modular 80+ GOLD CP-9020078-EU - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jXTmP6/corsair-power-supply-cs750m

-  SSD - Samsung 950 PRO 256 GB M.2-2280 - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FdDzK8/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mzv5p256bw

-  HDD - 3x 3,5" drives

-  Case - Corsair 300RATX Mid Tower Case - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pFV48d/corsair-case-300r

Here are my questions:

There will be 5 mm(0.2 inch) of space between case and that Noctua fan.  Max CPU height in that Corsair case is 170 mm (7 inches) and Noctua has 165 mm (6.5 inch). Is it enough?

I was wondering if  that PSU is enough in terms of power and pin connectors for that build in mind?

Lastly, I was considering i7 6850k version but it's quiet expensive comparing it to 6800k. I know 6850k has more PCI lanes 40 but 6800k has 28. That 28 lanes will be enough for gtx 1080 and gtx 680 and the entire system to run smoothly? Those extra PCI express lanes I would need if I had in mind expanding my system with more GPUs more than 2, right?

Thanks!

Because its best choice for price/performance when it comes to Octane.
