Hey there! Well, my brother's an Architecture Major here in our university. He's still a freshman, but soon he's going to have classes on 3D designing and rendering with programs like Google Sketch-up or Autocad or 3DSMark. So I really think he needs to change his rig.

His current rig is this:

Intel Core i3-2100

Asrock H61M-DGS

Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB)

EVGA GTX 460

FSP 550W 80+Bronze

1.0TB WD Caviar Blue

Bitfenix Shinobi Window

I'm thinking that he needs to upgrade to a CPU that is very capable of hyperthreading and a workstation GPU. And btw, this build is going to be limited to US$1,500~1,800. So I'm thinking of the following specs:

AMD FX-8350 ($210)

Corsair H100i ($110)

Asus M5A99FX Pro ($170)

Nvidia Quadro 4000 ($820)

Mushkin Silverline Stiletto 32GB ($160)

Seasonic S12II 620W ($80)

Samsung 840 Pro 256GB ($250)

1.0TB WD Caviar Blue ($0 - from previous build)

Bitfenix Shinobi Window ($0 - from previous build)

will this build fit its use? I mean, will it be too much or too little? Should I change the chassis?

its great that you are getting a quadro card i would only change the ssd, i dont think there is any use of such a large as the 1tb wd will be used for storage i suppose. get the samsung 840 pro 128gb, and invest in some premium fans to keep the rig cool. and as wats said, overclock the 8350, as much as you can, it wont disappoint you

Hmm... I think this is good. Would be fine with a 500W PSU. Most likely would be fine with a 450W without overclocking dramatically. Really push that 8350' date=' I think it is suppose to be great for Autocad. [/quote']

Thanks :) Can the 128GB handle it? Cause he's gonna be having windows 8, adobe master collection cs6, autocad, solidworks, sketchup, and i dunno, some other programs he might need.

Really, thanks for both of your advises :D :D

I would get a 256gb SSD, especially if you want to install software on it. Auto Cad and Master Collection take up a LOT of space and he will want to run them from an SSD,

The overall specs of the build seem perfect for the build to me. I assume he already has a good monitor or do you have a plan for a monitor?

Since you're a little restricted by budget, the 8350 is a safe bet. It's no 3930K for programs like AutoCAD, but it will get the job done.

The H100i is great and should get your 8350 over 5GHz.

That motherboard is pretty premium, though necessary isn't the word I would use. Personally I would downgrade to the ASRock 970 Extreme3 to save money, but there are some who frown upon ASRock (for some ungodly reason).

I would recommend some 1600MHz RAM instead of 1333 - with programs like you will be using, you will probably notice.

A 256GB SSD is pretty much a necessity for this in my opinion - not having stuff like Adobe Master Collection on your SSD will drive you insane. The speed is always great - 1TB for storage, 256GB for all applications and not just your OS. You will use a lot of space.

The Quadro 4000 is an excellent card and you will not be disappointed; good choice.

@Maxibonbits

Currently he has a samsung 1600x900 20" TN panel. he used this mainly for mainstream uses with his old rig. So I'm going to be the one paying for the monitor (as a gift) and I'm currently locked on the Asus PB248Q. :D

I know right :D I'm still going for the 256GB SSD for his rig. And about the board, thank you for the advice. I think I will go with the 970 extreme3. I just kinda missed that as an option maybe. :D I don't care what they say about AsRock. Cause I have a Z77 Extreme4 in my personal rig. :D For the RAM though, yeah, I think I'll let him go with some corsair vengeance? Or G.Skill Ripjaws Z? The dominators and dom. platinums are too expensive.
