I recently purchased a pair of Sennheiser HD 598se's and I wanted to voice my opinions about this product. Anyone who is interested in buying this product should know that they aren't an ordinary pair of headphones, its sound signature is different, crisp, neat and balanced in my opinion. Its aimed towards audiophiles, with is crystal clear sound and open back design. If you're looking for mind shattering bass, this is definitely not the pair of headphones for you. Let's start with the packaging, simple and neat, it comes with a short cable with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but also comes with a long semi coiled, semi straight cable with a quarter inch jack ( Converter to 3.5mm is included). The comfort... is immaculate. Sennheiser nailed the comfort department, the soft velour pads are perfect for long listening sessions and also wrap around your glasses nicely. The headphones are very light at 1.26lbs. I often forget i'm wearing these headphones. Let's move on to the open backed design. I'd like to mention that this is a very good pair of headphones for someone who is interested to try out the oped back style of headphones. The sound stage is amazing, the visualization of instrumental positions is on point. However, this also has a disadvantage, sound leak exists, but I do not find it to be very disturbing to others, as long as they are not sitting right next to you. Right out of the box the headphones are okay, nothing impressive, but when you pair them with a decent DAC/amp— I chose the Fiio e10k— and give them a 48 hour burn in period...wow... I was blown away. The clarity of these headphones is mind blowing, every small detail could be heard, in movies the background noise was clear, in games I could hear people stepping on glass. The position of someone on a set in a movie is evident because of the open back design. I feel that it creates an almost 360° feeling of sound, obviously not close to surround sound speakers, but amazing for a pair of headphones. The most impressive thing is the lifestyle it has created for me, after a long day of IB I can come home plug in my headphones to the Bose lifestyle and watch my favorite episode of friends with perfect audio quality, or simply kick back on a weekend listening to my favorited tunes by Jamiroquai. I started this thread to express my views on this product, feel free to reply with your views too!

You might want to change your layout to make it easier to read.

Other than that, I just recieved my HD 598 (normal edition) and I'm also quite happy with them. I quite frequently listen to house music and I must say that the bass is actually pretty decent, not over the top but also not muffled or anything.

And yeah, they are pretty damn comfortable :)
