Want to know what everybody thinks of this, put up my first draft yesterday and made some changes after reading the feedback.

I'm going to go without an Optical Drive, my current laptop doesn't have one and I don't miss it.

The Core i5-6500 has it's own cooler, so I shouldn't need to spend the extra money.

I'm trying to find the balance between cost and performance

Any and all feedback is helpful

Thanks

The CX500M is a green variant, isn't it? A lot worse than the grey units. I do second the 1060 suggestion though.

^ Also, maybe a WD Blue instead of the Toshiba?

Personally I'd buy the EVGA 500B as that is my go-to budget PSU. Regarding the SSD, I'd say put a 240GB OCZ trion 150 in there for now and when you need to, just add in a hard drive. If you do buy a hard drive, adding an SSD later would require you to clone the drive and it takes time. however the decision on which to add first is yours

The 500B is shit.  I say this owning one, even the green CXMs are better.

I'd rather an MX300, or a PNY if trying to really cut costs

I wouldn't try to save the 5$ or so from the SSD, and I said the 500B is a good option "in my opinion" so chill dude xD

sites like johnnyguru do all sorts of tests on them, from how they handle crossloads to voltage regulation to taking 'em apart and seeing how shodilly/well the soldering was done on the inside. @STRMfrmXMN has a sort of fettish with PSUs.

I honestly do not even want to continue this worthlesss argument, I looked up the reviews

EVGA: Uses second tier capacitors (it's a budget PSU, what did they expect?)

Corsair: Doesn't meet 80+ rating ( oh look false advertising)

Not sure where you read that a CX450M doesn't meet 80 PLUS bronze spec but judging by this thread I can only hope that you don't pretend to know what you're talking about with every subject.

Not my fault this guy doesn't understand "in my damn opinion" or "personally"

Engineering is a pretty objective subject and PSU quality and electrical performance have benchmarks.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

My bad I didn't see it was the new CXm PSUs in the first place. I remember the CS series had reliability issues but I have little to no knowledge about the new CXm series

The CS is a fairly decent PSU too.

As long as you get the retail one and not the OEM one* (he might have found a deal on the OEM one)

An OEM Intel part is usually taken from a prebuilt PC and sold as a new part with a warranty. Kind of a good deal, but I'd prefer to get a used CPU (like my 4670k which I found for 81 dollars used!).
