Hello,

Me and my grandfather were trying to fix a problem on his pc.The problem was that it didn't boot after installing another HDD but it became worse when it didn't post after one of the many restarts!

I am afraid that the MOBO of the APU is dead but i'm not sure. Because we were just messing with the BIOS, anybody got any ideas? Thanks

Reset your BIOS, by removing the battery for +/- 10 seconds.

After your computer is running again, only change the boot order of your HDD's. Most likely, your pc tries to boot from the new HDD, which has no operating system.

That was the first thing i did nothing changed..

Your cable management needs some attention... And while fixing that, just reconnect everything. Make sure you did not disconnect any of the cables to your motherboard, and also, connect only your motherboard. (no HDD's/optical drives connected) This way, you are certain it's no problem with those thiings. If it still does not work, remove your memory and place it back again, one by one. (maybe it failed)

I also see a piece of electrical tape with your 4-pin connector, right? Make sure that it's connected propperly...

You can cut most of the (white) zip-ties. Then you can pull all the cables you don't need, to the outside. Roll 'em up together, zip tie them, and place them under your optical drive. This should make things alot nicer, and help the airflow alot. (and making it easyer to fix things) Was I correct with the 4-pin connector to the mobo? (picture wasn't that great, and had to zoom in) Is it a custom MOLEX to 4-pin or something like that?

It really doesn't matter for him its important that it works

Better airflow, better cooling, longer lifespan. (if you can get it to work again)

It isn't a high power machine and has only 1 fan (CPU cooler) its not used for heavy tasks, like I care very much for my machine but because it does do heavy stuff

Sounds to me that you may have zapped your motherboard, assuming that reseating your RAM doesn't work. when you check the RAM, be sure to check them one by one ( if you have more than one RAM stick) and in each slot to figure out which DIMM or DIMM slot is bad.

Workload on a pc doens't affect how dirty it gets, however.  Just like everything else in life, things are easier when your neat, clean, and organized.  You're just asking for trouble with a rats nest of wiring like that.  Dirt and dust like to accumulate on messes like that.

I know but that isn't the main problem, I have said to both my dad and granddad that they should tidy up their pc's but its more important to them that it works
