"Mom's new PC"

So my mom's been using an ancient POS for the last like 8 years now, and she saved up some money to upgrade, so I helped her order all the parts and built it for her tonight after we got back from work.

She wanted to play Sims 4 and all her expansion packs for it at ultra settings, and be able to do some multi-tasking for her business stuff that she volunteers at a museum for.

 

Also now that she has a better PC, she'll be able to play any games she wants, which previously her PC would practically lock up trying to open/close Sims 4, let alone play it (at 10-15 FPS)

 

I also used some parts from the build to change something in my PC, hence the RAM choice.

Obviously she didn't need 3200 mhz RAM, but I wanted the yellow inserts so I could put them on my TridentZ to match my build.

Specs:

 

Phanteks Evolv ITX

i5 6500

Z170 EVGA Stinger (Mini ITX)  <-- got this real cheap on newegg 3rd party

16GB Trident Z Black/Yellow 3200 mhz 

Gtx 1060 3GB <-- got a real good deal on newegg for it as well

EVGA 550 G2 PSU

Cryorig H5 Universal

 

 

Reused parts:

 

256GB Crucial MX100 SSD <-- I took this from my PC when I bought my 1TB 850 EVO

 

1TB Seagate Barracuda <-- left over from her old PC

 

 

All together the entire build was about $800 not including her monitor (She picked up an Acer HL236 BID or whatever that 1080p IPS one they have is)

 

The CPU cooler probably wasn't needed but I wanted her system to be as quiet as possible with great thermals, so the extra $40 wasn't too bad.

I ran unigine valley after it was all said and done just to make sure thermals were under control, CPU maxed out at 39c after about 5 loops, and GPU hovered right at ~71c at 29% fan speed according to HWINFO 64.

Fairly decent Build for your Mom looks really nice so far. A really great update.

 Did she reacted like any gamer when the hardware arrived? Super happy and hyped ?

taking a guess here:

she reacted like my mum always does when stuff in fancy boxes arrives. "there came something for you, computer things I guess, come over tonight and pick it up please" so I went there to pick up my wives kitchen aid accessories.... thanks mum. only been waiting for the PSU for 2 weeks now....

I let her pick some of the stuff so she thought it was cool, she also helped me build it which was pretty sweet.

She didn't want the yellow, like I said the only reason I ordered it was to put the yellow on mine and put the red on hers lol
