I have a firewire PCIe card (in the mail, haven't set it up yet) that will have a header for one more firewire 400 port, but I only have one more back panel slot open and I want to use it for a USB panel. I was thinking, it would be pretty cool if I did something like this so I could have my cake and eat it too:

If I did this it would go here on my case:

Is this a bad idea? I've never done anything like this, I assume I'd need to by a dremel, and maybe some sort of mask? I have no experience with this.

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

IMO a drill will be enough. one hole for each port. be cheaper than a dremel

You can use silicone adhesive to attach.

Cut & file down the PCI slot cover and use it to flash the outside of the case so it doesnt look so shitty

Better if you can put it on the front of the case

I would use a punch or something, but why do you need a firewire port?

I don't need one, I'm doing this because:

1) It would be fun

2) I can

3) I like I/O. A lot.

So I'd use a small bit to drill a small hole and work my way up?

yes work your way up from 3mm to about 12mm. after 12mm the drill bit gets so large it can warp and bend sheetmetal; if the hole needs to be bigger you should drill a 3mm hole and then use a hole saw.

or you can go to a sheetmetal workshop and flick them $20. Id do that coz they can punch it

I appreciate that but I want to do this myself. :D

I don't know metric o.O so I'm not sure if the internal part of the connector is 12 mm or bigger.
