The reason is, you can't determine how "hard" a headphone is to drive just from the impedance. Take the Sennheisers here - sure they are 150 ohm impedance (nominal), but they also have a sensitivity of 112 db/V. That's insanely high and they will get plenty loud from just about any source.

So, I don't need an AMP/DAC? since I have been ill-informed how does it works?
