Hello,

So I have always wanted to make tracks and stuff with a keyboard but I previously didn't have enough money for it (and therefore still use Linux Lite 3.0 with LMMS)

I recently found a Quickshot midi composer keyboard with the charger but it only has one midi output for audio. Am I able to use this cable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-to-MIDI-Interface-Adapter-Cable-MIDI-In-Out-Lead-for-Win-XP-Vista-Mac-/262362681660?hash=item3d1608d13c:g:fIUAAOSwoudW~VEz but only use the input midi plug??

The outputs of the keyboard are in the photo below...

Another question, will this work in Linux LMMS as a Midi keyboard/controller? Or should I get:

Thanks in advance, Brennan Price.

You just need the Linux driver for it. It says it's plug and play so it's probably some generic chip that may well have a driver available or even built in to Linux.

So you are saying that the cable for the keyboard will work and all I need is the driver?

Oh, yes. The adapter is really just an external audio card with just the two inputs. It'll work like any other audio card. Midi is very rudimentary digital interface. As a standard it's comparable to something like the VGA for monitors. If you get the sound card working the keyboard will work too.

Oh right I see. Well I think it may be difficult to find the driver for Linux but I guess it is worth a shot eh. Maybe it could be worth getting the M audio keystation mini 32 because I know that will work in Lunix but it is more expensive than the Quickshot 49 key keyboard. If it wont work with my main rig I could try to make a cheap PC designed for it as a project I guess.
